A Shropshire law firm now operates two emergency advice lines which are available throughout the Christmas holiday period.

Wace Morgan Solicitors, with offices in Shrewsbury and Newtown, runs a 24-hour domestic violence helpline and a bereavement service.

Emma Kenvyn, of the firm’s family department, said that unfortunately this was the time of the year when family disputes often spilt over into physical and mental abuse.

“The strains of being together for long periods and the financial pressures of the festive period can cause arguments to boil over and unfortunately domestic violence is a common result,” she said.

Emma runs the 24/7 trauma line on 07823 777 774 and is always on hand to offer support and help.

“Statistics show that one in four women will be a victim of domestic violence in their lifetime – many of these on a number of occasions.

“One incident of domestic violence is reported to the police every minute and on average two women a week are killed by a current or former male partner so we realise what a common problem this is and are here to offer assistance,” she added.

Wace Morgan’s bereavement line is also operated over the holiday period.

Rae Evans of the private client department can be contacted on 07875 665 689 if people need to report the death of a loved one and ask for guidance about what steps need to be taken.

Rae can also be contacted via email on bereavement@wmlaw.co.uk
